PHOTOGRAPHS AND MEMORIES

Its time to take personal photography to the next level.  Keep in mind however, in todays fashion world of photography, the actual
camera buying market place can be a scary step. Why? Because the  unlimited types of cameras,  accessories, and information on
this one and that one, is enough to make anyone searching for that special  little box to hold your memories, a bit dizzy if  not crazy.
They have these features and those features, these lenses, those lenses, these accessories,  those accessories, this price YIKES!,
that PRICE, OUCH!  A row of fifty different cameras types to y our left and another row of  50 to your right.  Time for an aspirin!  Take
a small piece of advice and buy a small affordable little camera to start, after all you can take it anywhere, including your day hike
while on vacation meanwhile  not being  bogged down by a monstrosity dangling around your neck and a strained neck to boot.
Growing up it was never about this or that camera to buy, it was about should I buy Fuji, or Kodak film.  A canon camera or
panasonic. When you really think of it, photography really depends on the eye  and imagination, behind the lens, not the lens or
camera  necessarily , unless your a big shot  fashion or sports photographer. If not perhaps one day if you keep it simple and
inexpensive  to start.  I consider inexpensive as a  level of photography.

Remember picking  up our family  and travel photos  from  the family market place,  anxiously awaiting for  a few days to a week
for processing  and  pick up. For the time it was in itself a very cool and convenient way to play photographer.  Then it was one hour
photo shacks  and how amazing that was!  Of course today its as easy as shooting our photos,  plugging the camera into the
computer, and there you have it,  instant photographs in seconds. You may also change your film characteristics, color balance,
size, shape, and many other details in minutes.  Its amazing how quickly this change have come about,  and the  freedoms of
photography we really do have at our disposal today. For nostalgic purposes however, I do miss the anticipation of picking up my
photos at the local market and opening up the envelope for the first time, and glancing at these  amazing  magic moments in my life,
more importantly, that I took!

So time moves on, your photography skills improve, pictures get brighter and more colorful than ever, our ability to tweak photos
gets easier and easier with better and better software. Most importantly your artistic eye continues to develop.  We are now
professional  photographers in our own right, and how wonderful it is!  Now our photo collection grows and grows, and were filling
up memory stick after memory stick with a trophy collection of our amazing moments and events. Sometimes for us weekend and
amateur photographers we  even find time to have a larger print made of a spectacular photo we took on vacation or by mistake.
We now have a  treasure chest of imagination and special moments boxed up on the  film-puter!  Now what?
Once in awhile  we try navigating through this endless  sea of  folders and photos trying to make sense of the  files and contents,
and storing of files, bringing  these photos back to this folder, and this folder into that folder and oops wasn't this folder suppose to
have that photo? Thats fine, I will rename that folder to contain this photo, but those photos don't  coincide with that photo and folder
and, on and on.  So perhaps you finally  make a bit of sense  of a folder or two and their inhabitants, after only a full day or two of
strenuous reorganization,   your feeling those once amazing photos you took are further away from the destination you originally
had in store for them, like showing them off to family, friends, and perhaps even the world one day  as a  tribute to  your  imagination
and sense of artistic freedom!   But believe me friends of the amateur film world, all is not lost, just a bit of time and energy spent,
and whether you know it or not, you have acquired more experience in your art than you thought through these hardships,  so lets
take a deep breath and move onto the next level with all this material you have, or a photographic project you are about to begin. We
can do it together.
My whole purpose here is to show you the vast possibilities there are for you,  once you have bought a simple, affordable camera
and go camera crazy at your next family reunion or trip to the Bahamas,  There is a next step for your images once you have
acquired them, and it does involve putting them on the shelf for the 10 years or more!     LETS GO.

NOW WHAT

Taking the photo for many folks  can be as simple and point and shoot and see what transpires,  I  don't mind having point and
shoot days,  some of my best photos have come about this way.  We may  think of the dog and the fire hydrant a routine  daily
function but on film it can say much more.  Some other event may reveal itself on the finished shot,  perhaps the look on the dogs
face while relieving itself, the angry bystander you didn't really notice in the shot.    Look at the photos of man  sitting on the bench
with a cigar hanging out of his mouth. Before the shot was taken it most likely seemed to boring to shoot. But the end result was an
experiment in human nature and human expression.  Point, shoot, print!
